A SMART BUSINESS MOVE

How will your business benefit?

Giving young people work skills that you, as an employer, need makes good business sense. By taking on an Australian School-based Apprentice you are passing on your valuable knowledge, skills and experience to the next generation, helping to build a local skills base, and strengthening school, local industry and community links.

Planning for your future and growing your business with the right people is a smart move. Thousands of employers across Australia have offered young people an opportunity to start training for a career while they were still at school and have seen the benefits flow on to their businesses.

You could help a young Australian to get a head start on a career and help to build your business at the same time.

The Australian Government is committed to building a nation in which high quality technical education is a valued pathway to career and employment opportunities for young Australians. The establishment of the Australian Technical Colleges assists in meeting skills needs and the status technical and vocational training.

Local industry and community representatives have a leadership role in the governance of each of the Colleges. The direct involvement of industry and community leaders ensures that the skills taught to students match those skills required by local businesses. Students will be trained in these skills through an Australian School-based Apprentice and Traineeship which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. At the same time students will also complete the academic subjects required for their Year 12 certificate.
