  • The Australian Technical College - Darwin is a registered non-government school catering for Year 11 and 12 students looking to get a head start in a trade career.  The College is working in partnership with Taminmin High School; Palmerston High School and Casuarina Senior College to deliver a trade related Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE) and local Registered Training Organisations to deliver trade training to College students.  Students from other schools may also join the College.

The main office of the College is located in Stuart Park in Darwin which includes classrooms for employability and enterprise skills training for students as well as a base for the College’s administrative functions.

The College offers trade training in the metal and engineering, automotive, electrotechnology, building and construction (including plumbing) and commercial cookery industries.  Students undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship at the Certificate III level which includes part-time employment with an employer over the two years, providing a strong foundation to their trade career.

It is planned to gradually expand the services of the College and partner with other local schools in future years.

Industry support is very strong with the College being led by a governing board consisted of five local business leaders representing the Territory Construction Association; Motor Trades Association; Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory; Australian Hotels Association; and Group Training Northern Territory.  The Chair of the governing board is Mr Peter Carew, Managing Director of Integrated Technical Services.

Positive responses from students, industry and the community support the College as an exciting pathway for young people in the Darwin region.
