After providing a facilitation service during 2006 and 2007, in 2008 the College commenced operations as a campus of the Gladstone State High School.  The College is providing Years 11 & 12 education, Certificate II in Business Administration and Information Technology, and Certificate III ASbAs in the following trade areas:  automotive, building and construction, electrotechnology, metal and engineering, and commercial cookery.

The Australian Technical College - Gold Coast commenced operations in February 2006, offering trade training in construction and commercial Cookery. The College operates in partnership with local high schools in the Gold Coast region. Students work towards their senior secondary certificate, undertake business training and also an Australian School-based Apprenticeship, commence a Certificate III level trade qualification. The College also offers a number of outreach programs to promote trade qualifications to Year 10 students in the region and provide trade training to Year 11 and 12 students in the more distant parts of the Gold Coast.

The College is registered as a non-government school and delivers a fully integrated academic and training program and offers Certificate III Australian School-based Apprenticeships in the following trades: engineering, building and construction, automotive, commercial cookery and electrotechnology.

The College is governed by an industry-led Board of Directors, made up of representatives from local industry, the education sector and the training and group employment sector. The chair is Mr Dennis Beck, Managing Director of Beck Constructions. Industry advisory councils for each of the trades offered by the College also inform the Board on developments and needs in their particular industry.

The Australian Technical College in the North Brisbane region commenced operations as a non-government school and registered training organisation in January 2007 at a refurbished location in Scarborough. A second campus is located at St James College, close to the Brisbane CBD.

Both campuses provide academic studies and vocational education and training, manage the Australian School-based Apprenticeship arrangements, co-ordinate student movements and provide student support services and transport.

All students undertake a Certificate III level Australian School-based Apprenticeship in their chosen trade. The College offers building and construction, metal and engineering, automotive, electrotechnology, and commercial cookery at the Scarborough campus and commercial cookery  at the St. James campus.

Employment of students in Australian School-based Apprenticeships is arranged through the College using industry linkages. The College has industry support and community involvement including local business and employer representatives, local government and education and training organisations in the region. The chair is Mr Les Bradshaw, Managing Director of Bradco Kitchens.

The Australian Technical College – North Queensland commenced operations in February 2007 as a non-government school and registered training organisation in new purpose built facilities in Townsville.

The College provides academic courses, business studies, student support services and trade training. Students enter into an Australian School-based Apprenticeship at Certificate III level in metal and engineering, automotive, building and construction or electrotechnology.

The College has the support of local industry representatives, employers, schools, local government, business groups and other community stakeholders. The chair is Mr Lawrie Martin, Managing Director, Alexander Body Works
